UNITED States President Donald Trump has warned that Iran would face devastating military retaliation if it attempted to assassinate him, issuing one of his strongest threats yet against the Islamic Republic amid escalating tensions between the two countries.
In a post on Truth Social late on Friday, Trump declared that the US military was fully prepared to respond to any threat against him.
"1,000 missiles are Locked and Loaded and aimed at the Islamic Republic of Iran, with thousands more to immediately follow, should the Iranian Government act on its threat, pronounced in many corners of the Globe, to assassinate, or attempt to assassinate, the sitting President of the United States of America, in this case, ME!
"Orders have been given, and the US Military is ready, willing and able."
Bloomberg cited Trump also warning that the United States would "completely decimate and destroy all areas" of Iran if its leaders carried out or attempted such an attack.
The warning came after a week of renewed confrontation between Washington and Tehran, raising fresh doubts over the durability of the fragile understanding previously reached between the two countries.
It also followed the conclusion of funeral ceremonies for former Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who was killed during the United States and Israel's military campaign against Iran at the end of February. He was succeeded by his son, Mojtaba Khamenei.
Speaking to reporters after leaving Britain following the NATO summit in Türkiye, Trump dismissed speculation that security concerns had prompted him to switch Air Force One aircraft at a British military base.
"No, no, why would there be?" he said.
Asked whether he was aware of any credible Iranian threat against the presidential aircraft, Trump replied: "Well, I have a threat all the time. I'm No. 1 on their list."
Trump has remained under heightened security after surviving multiple assassination attempts during the 2024 US presidential campaign.
His campaign previously said officials from the Biden administration had briefed him on what they described as "real and specific threats from Iran" to assassinate him.
The latest warning follows reports that Israeli authorities had recently informed Trump of an alleged new Iranian assassination plot, adding to concerns over the continuing deterioration in relations between the United States and Iran. - July 11, 2026
