KUALA LUMPUR – It was a sombre Friday as Malaysians mourn the passing of legendary sports personality Serbegeth “Shebby” Singh.
Shebby, 61, passed away after suffering a heart attack while cycling near Sunway Iskandar Puteri in Johor on Wednesday evening.
His passing came as a shock to football fans across the country, both from the 80s to the current era. Shebby rose to fame when he debuted his football career as a defender for Johor in 1978.
He spent nine years playing for the national team in various tournaments including three Asian Games in 1982, 1986 and 1990, and was a Southeast Asian Games gold medallist in 1989.
After retiring from football, Shebby carved his name in the industry further when he became a football commentator on various local and international platforms.
