KUALA LUMPUR – Yesterday was the birthday of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, but it was no respite for the nation’s 10th prime minister after another intense day on the campaign trail as Malaysians in six states are set to vote in crucial elections tomorrow.
Last night, Anwar – despite the clock already ticking past 11, and having just arrived from a previous function – delivered a trademark fiery ceramah to a 10,000-strong crowd at Keramat’s Padang MPAJ. The 76-year-old – ever modest, energetic and witty – had the audience in the palm of his hand for the Pakatan Harapan-Barisan Nasional alliance’s Grand Finale ceramah.
On top form, Anwar deflected all attacks on himself and his party with facts, and stressed the government’s offers to the people through the manifestos presented previously. While joking that he had already cut 10 birthday cakes, the prime minister then called on Selangor’s electorate to keep PH-BN in power to allow it to continue successfully developing the state.
