EARLIER today, GoPro officially unveiled its new flagship camera, the GoPro Hero10 Black, featuring the company’s new high-performance GP2 processor – the first new processor since the GP1 was introduced back in 2017.
The list of improvements is breathless as the GP2 enables the Hero10 Black to capture life-like 5.3K video at 60 frames per second, 4K video at 120 frames per second and 2.7K video at an incredible 240 frames per second. That’s a lot of frames.
The GP2 also enables HyperSmooth 4.0 video stabilization, meaning that the Hero10 Black promises to have the smoothest shake-free video from any camera, for any price.

As a pure camera, the Hero10 Black captures photos at 23.6 MP (megapixels) with the option of pulling 19.6 MP stills from 5K videos and 15.8 MP stills from 60 FPS 5.3K video, allowing users to easily take high quality images from fast-paced sports or other events.
On its face, the Hero10 Black looks like last year’s model, but besides the new processor, the insides have been reworked leading to a slightly lighter weight at 153g. Being similar to the last design means it will also be compatible with accessories that are already available.
Once again, the new device is also weather resistant and can be used at depths of up to 10m. New lens covers promise to be more scratch resistant and water-repelling, ensuring the Hero1 Black lives up to GoPro’s reputation for toughness and survivability.

When it comes to accessing and sharing content, the Hero10 Black offers three ways to access photos and videos, including a new wired option that transfers content from the camera to GoPro’s Quik app up to 50% faster than wireless.
The other ways are auto uploading recent footage to the GoPro cloud account while the camera is charging, and wireless offloading from the camera to the Quik app.
For the fourth year in a row, GoPro is challenging its users to create the launch highlight reel for its new flagship camera.
Open exclusively to owners of the Hero10 Black, the Million Dollar Challenge will award an equal share of US$1,000,000 to entrants whose video clips are chosen for the Hero10 Black Million Dollar Challenge video that will be released in December 2021.
