THE Esmod Kuala Lumpur Fashion Show returns with a new batch of soon-to-be graduates. They took to the stage in a stellar fashion show lined up to showcase their masterpieces. The event, on March 26 at Level 3, Shoppes, Four Seasons Place, Kuala Lumpur, saw many amazing outfits created by the young fashion designers themselves.

This time around, the stage saw batch FD1903 comprising 19 talented designers showcasing the theme "Eclectitsch”. Made up of the words 'eclectic’ and ‘kitsch’ put together, it represented an array of themes that come together to form an eclectic, slightly kitsch setting.

The fashion designers presented their collections which were split into four categories: Nouvelle Couture, Womenswear RTW (Luxury), Womenswear RTW and Menswear RTW. “Empowering the Queens” by Fong Hui Yi speaks of every woman like a queen, beautiful and elegant, yet strong. Eugene Chow’s “The Back of Beyond” tells of the life of an introvert who enjoys solitude.

“Testimony of the Ancients” by Eunice Ong Xiao Qing is inspired by gothic architecture and 16th-century sculptures. Ryan Lee Chi Yeng’s “An Antonian Affair” depicts ancient Roman life with a touch of disease. “Tainted” by Sunny Hoe Zhi San shows that a fall from great innocence hurts the most, knowing that you are now tainted.

“Women Are More Than That” by Wong Nee Co redefines the original role of women. Jacy Chia Kia Cheng’s “Soul Speak” showcases stories that glimmer and speak through our souls. Samantha Low Jia En’s “Embracing Growth” speaks about finding joy in the chaos of growing up. These are just some of the many collections that are to be showcased.

The designers’ collections were appraised by a panel of notable judges. They were fashion designers Bon Zainal, Bernard Chandran, as well as other professionals from the industry. The designers competed for the ‘Best Fashion Design’ and ‘Best Pattern Making’ awards.
