KUCHING police chief, Ahsmon Bajah said the bomb threat at SMK Kuching High was a hoax.
He said this following security measures at the school, which received an earlier message warning them about a bomb.
“Investigations revealed there was no bomb at the school.
“Last night, we received a similar report concerning a bomb at St Joseph’s Private School,” he said.
The bomb squad arrived at the school around 11.30am today after students and staff were evacuated.
A notice from SMK Kuching High said the school was declared safe at 6pm and that classes would resume tomorrow.
Yesterday, several member schools of the International Schools Partnership (ISP) had received bomb threats.
Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain said 37 police reports were lodged about bomb hoaxes at schools nationwide as at 2pm today.
The reports lodged in nine states involved international schools, private schools and government-assisted schools.
Razarudin said an investigation of the emails revealed they were originally written in English and translated into Bahasa Malaysia. – The Vibes, November 22, 2023.
