INFLUENCER, DJ and actress Siew Pui Yi, better known as Ms Puiyi, won her suit against her former business partner Lai Kai Jian after the latter failed to appear in court.

The High Court delivered its judgement in default on July 26, awarding her RM4.3 million, which she claimed was fraudulently obtained by Lai, who is also known as “Mentos”.

She was speaking at a press conference at her lawyer K. Mahendren's office in Green Hall, Penang today.

Mahendren added that the High Court awarded the judgement in default on the same day they filed for it.

It was earlier reported that the 25-year-old media personality, who made history as the first Southeast Asian female to pose for the raunchy US-based Penthouse magazine, was seeking damages from her former partner related to her personal and corporate income tax dealings.

Mahendran said he would discuss with his client and file an execution to recover the amount.

“We have complied with all procedures and Mentos failed to make an appearance or file documents in response, so we applied for the judgement in default.

“The judgement is a significant relief for Siew, who was deceived and financially burdened by an individual she trusted,” added Mahendran. – July 29, 2024.
