Drink industry workers join call for abolishment of RM1 bank withdrawal fee

THE National Union of Drink Industry Workers (NUDIW) today called on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to intervene and insist on the abolishment of the RM1 inter-bank ATM fee.

Its general secretary S Nadarajan said the abolishment of the RM1 fee would just be a small drop in the ocean for banks which are already making millions.

"Banks are making huge profits and can easily absorb the cost.

"It is unfair that customers are being charged for a service which should be provided free to them.

"Big corporations must stop squeezing the 'life' out of the lower income groups," he said in a statement.

He stressed that workers in the country, especially those in the B40 group are already facing very difficult times and are struggling to meet basic needs.- December 9, 2024
