SUBANG JAYA mayor Datuk Amirul Azizan Abd Rahim confirmed that local authorities approved the development project near the site of the underground gas pipeline fire in Putra Heights.

He said the project underwent the proper approval process in 2022, including obtaining Petronas' permission to use the Right-of-Way (ROW) for the Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) route.

"The contractor involved is on the panel approved by IWK and Petronas," he said at the Incident Control Post today as reported by The New Straits Times.

Commenting on social media claims about the project, Amirul Azizan said the authorities would not issue an official response for now, as Petronas, the police, and other relevant agencies are still investigating.

He added that the project was due for completion in December last year but faced delays in obtaining the Certificate of Completion and Compliance (CCC).

"I am not sure of the exact cause of the delay. What is certain is that all approvals were obtained according to the established procedures, and the project complies with all conditions and regulations," he said.
