A PEACEFUL evening turned tragic for two brothers returning home from the mosque when their motorcycle crashed into a palm tree in FELDA Lui Timur, Jempol, on Friday night.

The accident occurred at around 9.15pm and involved a Honda C100 motorcycle ridden by the elder sibling, aged 17, with his 15-year-old brother as pillion.

According to Jempol District Police Chief Superintendent Norhisham Mustapar, initial investigations suggest the older boy lost control of the motorcycle before it skidded off the road and struck a palm tree on the right shoulder.

“As a result of the accident, the rider was taken to the Lui Muda Health Clinic but was pronounced dead while receiving treatment,” he said.

The younger brother, who sustained serious injuries, was rushed to Jempol Hospital for further medical attention.

Police have opened an investigation into the incident. - May 10, 2025
