THE National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI) will be rebranded as NADI Madani in September, reflecting the centre’s expanded functions and enhanced services, according to Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.
Announcing the change during the World Summit on the Information Society+20 (WSIS+20) High-Level Event, Fahmi said the rebranding would accompany the rollout of new features including improved internet access and the introduction of e-health services.
"With more facilities, amenities and services being offered, we will undertake a rebranding exercise from NADI to NADI Madani," he said. "We expect the rebranding to begin around September this year."
Fahmi added that the network of centres, with nearly two million registered members across 1,099 locations nationwide, has the potential to serve as a platform for entrepreneurial growth.
"I see NADI as having the capacity to become a place where local entrepreneurs can either acquire new skills or explore opportunities for new markets through the internet and e-commerce," he said.
NADI, an initiative spearheaded by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, was established to provide community-based internet access, especially in rural and underserved areas.
The centres are intended to empower local communities through relevant and sustainable programmes that address digital, knowledge and socio-economic disparities. They also act as touchpoints for disseminating accurate and current information about government initiatives.
NADI’s impact has received international recognition, with the NADI Pulau Banggi Initiative named a winner of the WSIS Prize 2025. The project brought digital literacy, skills training and economic opportunity to one of Malaysia’s most isolated island communities. - July 11, 2025
