THE Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will recall several key witnesses, including a former independent director of Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB), as part of its ongoing inquiry into the company’s recent restructuring.
PAC Chair Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin said the decision follows a review of the official transcript (hansard) from previous proceedings, which revealed several unresolved issues.
“PAC has held 16 proceedings to date, and these will continue with the summoning of several more relevant witnesses,” she said in a statement today.
She also clarified that recent remarks made by PAC Deputy Chair Teresa Kok and member Sim Tze Tzin were personal views and did not represent the committee’s official position.
Kok and Sim had told reporters that Wednesday’s hearing proceeded smoothly, with full cooperation from Finance Minister II Amir Hamzah Azizan. Sim was also quoted as saying that most committee members were satisfied with the explanations given, and saw no governance issues that warranted further investigation.
However, Mas Ermieyati reminded all parties that the committee’s findings, discussions and submitted documents are bound by Standing Order 85 of the Dewan Rakyat’s Rules of Procedure, which prohibits premature disclosure to the media.
“PAC appreciates the cooperation extended by all witnesses in the inquiry into the management of public airports. However, no conclusions or recommendations have been finalised at this stage,” she said.
She added that a full report will be prepared once proceedings are complete, and will be submitted to the government before being tabled in Parliament. - July 11, 2025
