A 55-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested by police for allegedly engaging in indecent behaviour in public, following the circulation of a short video clip that went viral on social media.

Kluang district police chief ACP Bahrin Mohd Noh confirmed that the arrest was made after police received a report regarding the incident, which occurred at 4.16 pm on Wednesday in front of a supermarket along Jalan Batu 4.

The suspect was apprehended by the roadside at Jalan Besar Mersing around 5 pm on Thursday.

“Checks revealed that the suspect had two prior criminal records, but his urine test came back negative for drugs,” ACP Bahrin said in a statement.

The case is being investigated under Section 377D of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of two years’ imprisonment upon conviction.

The 12-second video that triggered public outcry shows a man performing an obscene act by the roadside while holding a mobile phone. The footage was widely shared across various social media platforms, prompting swift action by authorities. - July 18, 2025
