THE Johor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) has lodged a police report against an influencer and his younger brother following their actions in providing false information regarding his disappearance in Sungai Tui, Bukit Kepong, Muar, last Monday.
Johor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Zone 4 Head, Senior Fire Superintendent II Norshuhada Amsari, said the report was made yesterday at the Muar District Police Headquarters (IPD) on the advice of JBPM Director General, Datuk Nor Hisham Mohammad.
He said the report was made because JBPM considered the act of making a false report to be an inappropriate action and a waste of resources and time.
“It also involved a risk to the safety of rescue team members and disrupted other emergency tasks. This action also affects the credibility and trust of the community in the rescue agency and the authorities if not curbed.
“The report was made at 11.30 am yesterday and the investigating officer has also taken my statement.
Norshuhada said that throughout the four-day operation, 30 JBPM officers and personnel from Muar, Labis and Pagoh were deployed to the location to search for the victim upon receiving a report.
He said that members of the water rescue team from the Muar Fire and Rescue Station were deployed during the operation to search for the man.
"We found out the real news on Saturday morning after being contacted by the Muar District Police Chief (Assistant Commissioner Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz), who informed us that the man was safe.
"In this situation, we are grateful that he is safe, we just need him to take responsibility. The security team has been camped at the location for days to search and rescue him. We were doing our best to find a missing person, but things turned out the other way," he said.
Last Saturday, Raiz Mukhliz revealed that the 38-year-old man was found to have fabricated the story regarding his disappearance in the river.
The 'incident' also involved his 30-year-old younger brother who conspired to push the car into the river and pretended to carry out a search operation. - July 21, 2025
