THE Ministry of Education has suspended four students and issued warning letters to fourteen others following a widely shared video of a school fight, which took place in what is believed to be a school toilet.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek, who visited the school this morning to receive a full briefing on the incident, said the ministry would not compromise on issues affecting safety within educational institutions.

“We will not tolerate matters that threaten the security of our schools,” she said in a statement. “Following the altercation that went viral on social media, the Ministry is taking firm action to ensure a safe ecosystem and the wellbeing of the entire school community.

“Four students involved will be suspended, while another fourteen have received official warning letters. These measures are in line with disciplinary procedures set by the Ministry of Education.”

Fadhlina added that the suspended students would participate in a community service programme under the supervision of the district education office.

“Counselling sessions will also be conducted as part of an intervention initiative, aimed at guiding students towards improved behaviour through the instillation of core moral values,” she said.

The incident came to public attention after a social media influencer uploaded footage of the brawl, involving a group of male students. - July 30, 2025
