THE Government, under the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK 13), will introduce MyDigital ID as a secure and verifiable digital identity to streamline access to public services online, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
"MyDigital ID will serve as a single digital identity key to facilitate access to various online public facilities," Anwar told the Dewan Rakyat.
He said a single public sector digital gateway would also be developed as a one-stop platform to simplify the rakyat’s dealings with the government.
"Through GovTech, the judicial system—including the Syariah Courts—will be enhanced. Improvements to systems such as e-Syariah and digital case recording will ease and expedite processes for the public, court officials and Syariah lawyers alike," he added.
Anwar also said that civil servants would undergo intensive training in digital skills and artificial intelligence (AI), in a bid to develop Malaysia’s domestic talent pool and leverage big data analytics.
The goal, he said, is to ensure that 95 percent of federal government services are delivered fully online by 2030.
"We are confident that Malaysia can proudly stand as a high-income nation powered by AI and digital technology. With focused planning and consistent effort, Malaysia is well-positioned to rank among the world’s top 20 in the Online Service Index (UN e-Government Development Index) and maintain an A-category in the GovTech Maturity Index," Anwar said.
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of harnessing local technological innovation to drive economic growth, particularly through the development of strategic digital assets such as AI, big data analytics and integrated government systems.
Research, development, commercialisation and innovation (RDCI) will also be intensified to enhance products and services under the "Made by Malaysia" banner, he said.
"This is crucial for strengthening the competitiveness of the national economy and fostering a sustainable, high-impact industry in line with our aspiration to become an AI-driven nation," said Anwar.
To realise this vision, the Government will implement the National AI Action Plan 2030, which aims to cultivate local talent, strengthen research and commercialisation of technology, and develop digital infrastructure to support the nationwide adoption of AI across all sectors. - July 31, 2025
