MALAYSIAN Driving License (LMM) holders whose validity has expired for more than 36 months are no longer eligible to receive the targeted BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) subsidy.
The Road Transport Department (JPJ) in a statement announced that only licenses that are still valid or expire no more than 36 months from the renewal deadline are classified as active.
“LMMs classified as active are licenses that expire no more than 36 months from the previous renewal deadline. During this period, license holders are still eligible to receive the BUD195 subsidy and can renew their licenses directly without any additional tests.
“However, if the driving license has expired for more than 36 months, the license holder is no longer eligible to receive the BUDI95 subsidy.
“In addition, license renewal cannot be done directly, and license holders are required to re-take the driving competency test at any Driving Institute,” the statement added.
In this regard, JPJ urges all driving license holders to always ensure that their licenses are renewed within the specified period to prevent their licenses from becoming inactive.
The move is important to ensure continued eligibility to receive subsidies as well as avoid difficulties in the process of re-obtaining a license.
The Ministry of Finance (MOF) yesterday announced that the government will maintain the price of subsidised RON95 at RM1.99 per litre through BUDI95.
