PARTI Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) is now allegedly directing more attacks towards PAS than Pakatan Harapan (PH), despite previously relying heavily on PAS’ voter support and election machinery, PAS election director Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor claimed.
Sanusi warned that Bersatu could lose its place in Malaysian politics if it continued adopting an arrogant approach, criticising PAS and failing to strengthen cooperation among opposition parties.
The Kedah Menteri Besar said Bersatu should accept with an open heart the cooperation between Barisan Nasional (BN) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) ahead of the Negeri Sembilan state election.
He said Bersatu would not be able to operate independently without support from its political partners.
"All this while, Bersatu has survived on PAS votes, but after that it turned around and attacked PAS. If this attitude continues, it will not be long before Bersatu disappears from the country’s political landscape.
"Does anyone enter an election by attacking their own side? Let them bark on their own. If this attitude continues, this will be their last election. After this, they will disappear," he said during a PN and BN grand ceramah at the Jempol parliamentary constituency in Bandar Seri Jempol on Thursday.
Sanusi said Bersatu leaders should instead focus their attacks on Pakatan Harapan (PH) rather than targeting PAS, which remains part of the broader opposition bloc.
He urged Bersatu leaders to set aside their arrogance and pride if they wanted to be part of a wider political cooperation involving Barisan Nasional (BN) and Perikatan Nasional (PN).
"Why attack PAS? I want to hear them attack PH instead. From all the speeches I have heard by Bersatu leaders, none of them have targeted PH. All they talk about is PN and PAS," he said.
"If they want to join this big vessel, they have to sit with us. Otherwise, you will drift away.
"Nothing can be done if ego, arrogance and pride remain. All of that must be left behind. If you want to be together, come with sincerity, be open-hearted, accept unity, share what we have and work together properly," he added.
Sanusi also disputed claims that Bersatu’s success in winning 30 parliamentary seats during the 15th General Election (GE15) was achieved independently, arguing that PAS’ machinery played a crucial role.
"He said PAS won 43 seats because of cooperation with Bersatu. I want to tell you, you won 30 seats because of cooperation with PAS, and then you sacked 19 Members of Parliament.
"Where is their machinery? Look at their ceramah tents when they are no longer with PAS — how many people are there? Do their operation rooms have machinery or not? Everything depends on PAS. Do not say PAS relied on them. They were the ones relying on PAS," he said.
The remarks come amid ongoing political manoeuvring among opposition parties ahead of the Negeri Sembilan state election, where cooperation and seat arrangements among BN, PN and other political blocs remain a key focus. - July 24, 2026
