POLICE in Nibong Tebal are pursuing multiple leads after a 37-year-old man was shot outside a commercial premises in Seri Tambun, Simpang Ampat, in an incident believed to be a targeted attack.
The shooting occurred at about 10.00am on Monday, with the victim, a local man, sustaining a gunshot wound to his right arm before being rushed to Hospital Seberang Jaya for treatment.
South Seberang Perai District Police Chief Superintendent Jay January Siowou said police had launched a comprehensive investigation and were examining all possible angles to establish the motive behind the incident.
Investigators at the scene recovered several pieces of evidence believed to be crucial in assisting the probe.
“The investigation at the scene has been carried out, and several pieces of evidence have been found to assist the investigation.
“Police are examining all possible angles, and we are still investigating the actual motive behind the incident.
“Therefore, all parties are advised not to make any speculation that could interfere with the investigation,” he said in a statement.
The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder and Section 39 of the Arms Act 1960.
Police have urged members of the public with information related to the shooting to come forward to assist investigations.
