POLICE have opened an investigation into a roadside altercation involving two men near Jalan Kastam in Port Klang, after a video of the incident gained widespread attention on social media.
South Klang District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Lim Jit Huey (pic) said the incident took place at about 3.30pm on July 29 at the entrance to Jalan Kastam, involving a 30-year-old local male driver and a motorcycle rider whose identity has yet to be established.
"The cause of the incident is still under investigation and police are working to trace the motorcycle rider involved in the altercation," he said in a statement.
The Criminal Investigation Division of the South Klang District Police Headquarters has opened an investigation paper under Section 160 of the Penal Code for affray.
If convicted, the offence carries a maximum sentence of six months' imprisonment, a fine of up to RM1,000, or both.
Police are also investigating possible violations under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 relating to the improper use of network services, which carries a maximum penalty of one year's imprisonment or a fine.
Members of the public with information related to the incident have been urged to assist police by coming forward.
