FIFTY-one witnesses will be called to testify at an inquest into the death of a 10-year-old boy who was found unconscious in a school toilet in Senawang last year.
Inquest conducting officer Norazihah Asmuni disclosed the number of witnesses when questioned by Coroner Tasnim Abu Bakar during a mention at the Coroner’s Court in Seremban today.
Norazihah said the witnesses would include teachers, pupils and the victim’s schoolmates, who are expected to provide evidence concerning the circumstances surrounding the death of Iman Zhafran Abdullah.
The court subsequently fixed seven days for the inquest, on Sept 14 and 21, Oct 5, 6 and 7, followed by Oct 21 and 28, with each session scheduled to begin at 2.30pm.
Lawyer Muhammad Yazid Mohamad Salim, who represents the victim’s family, also applied for the court to allow the legal team and the boy’s parents to examine witnesses during the proceedings.
He further sought the court’s discretion to allow the disclosure of documents, including copies to be provided to the lawyers and the victim’s family.
“Our side understands the sensitivity that the documents will remain under the control of the lawyers and their clients,” he said.
The victim’s father, Muhammad Hafizuddin Abdullah, 41, and mother, Zuzita Murib Sagita, were present in court today.
Media reports previously stated that the cause of death of the Year Four pupil, who was found unconscious at the school on Oct 2, 2025, was pressure to the neck.
Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said a post-mortem conducted at the Forensic Medical Unit of Rembau Hospital found no other injuries on the boy’s body.
Police received a report at about 1.19pm on Oct 2 last year while the boy was receiving initial treatment at a nearby private medical centre.
The boy was pronounced dead after he was found unconscious in the school’s male toilet. - August 11, 2026
