Haze: Putrajaya, Cheras record unhealthy API this morning

An API reading of 0 to 50 indicates good air quality, 51 to 100 is moderate, 101 to 200 is unhealthy, 201 to 300 is very unhealthy, and an API reading above 300 is hazardous.

PUTRAJAYA and Cheras in Kuala Lumpur, and nine other areas in Sarawak, recorded unhealthy Air Pollution Index (API) readings this morning.

According to the Air Pollution Index Management System (APIMS), the API reading in Putrajaya was 114, while in Cheras was 102.

The nine areas in Sarawak involved Serian IPD with the highest API reading of 195, followed by Kuching (172), Samarahan (171), Sarikei (161) and Bintulu (157).

Next, Sri Aman (157), Samalaju (153), Sibu (151), and Miri (130).

Johan Setia, which previously recorded unhealthy API readings, is now among 51 areas in the moderate category with a reading of 98 this morning.

An API reading of 0 to 50 indicates good air quality, 51 to 100 is moderate, 101 to 200 is unhealthy, 201 to 300 is very unhealthy, and an API reading above 300 is hazardous.

The API data is released hourly, based on 68 air quality monitoring stations nationwide. – August 12, 2026
