A SOLDIER was injured after he was believed to have been hit by a bullet fired by a fellow serviceman at a firing range in Sungai Menyala, Port Dickson, yesterday afternoon.
Negeri Sembilan Deputy Police Chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Mohd Nasharudin Mohd Shariff said the victim sustained injuries to his face and was receiving treatment at Hospital Tuanku Jaafar, with his condition reported to be stable.
"We received a report regarding an incident in which a soldier was hit by gunfire at the Sungai Menyala firing range. The incident was reported at about 2.15pm when the victim was at the location with several other personnel.
"Based on preliminary investigations, the victim is believed to have been hit by a shot fired by a fellow serviceman," he said in a statement last night.
Mohd Nasharudin said a man in his 20s, who is also a soldier, had been detained to assist with investigations.
He said the case was being investigated under Section 37 of the Arms Act 1960 and Section 337 of the Penal Code.
He urged the public not to speculate about the incident or spread unverified information that could interfere with the investigation. - August 13, 2026
