PKR secretary-general Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh has called on party members to remain undaunted by failure and setbacks, urging them to rise again and continue defending their ideals in the pursuit of a better future.
In her welcoming address at the PKR National Congress in Ayer Keroh, Melaka today, Fuziah said the party’s political struggle should never be abandoned simply because its members faced defeat, pressure or adversity, stressing that every challenge should instead become a source of strength to move forward.
"Do not be afraid of failure because we cannot fail. We must have the courage to say that we will rise and continue this journey," she said.
Fuziah said PKR members must maintain a strong fighting spirit and never allow difficult circumstances to undermine their confidence in the party’s cause.
She acknowledged that the struggle could leave individuals wounded or result in defeat in a particular battle, but stressed that this did not mean the wider cause had come to an end.
"We may be wounded, but we will not surrender. We will get up, we will rise and we will return with idealism, discipline and the struggle for information," she said.
Fuziah also invoked a Malay expression to illustrate the resilience she expected from party members in confronting adversity.
"If our elbows are broken, we lean on our fingernails; if our fingernails are broken, we lean on our wings; if our wings are broken, we lean on our chins. But we will continue to fight," she said.
She subsequently stressed that losing an individual battle should never be mistaken for losing the overall struggle.
"We may have lost the battle, but we will win the war, God willing," she said, drawing an enthusiastic response from party members and delegates.
Fuziah also reminded PKR members to strengthen their ideals, thinking and commitment to the Reformasi agenda to ensure the party’s message continued to reach the wider public.
"We will rise and we will continue to fight. God willing, we will win. We can continue to fight together," she said.
She urged members to treat every experience as an opportunity for self-reflection, correcting weaknesses and further strengthening the party’s organisational efforts. - August 15, 2026
