PARTI Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) will strengthen its information and communications strategy to ensure the Government’s policies, initiatives and achievements are communicated more clearly to the public.
Communications Minister and PKR information chief Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said the move followed several motions and proposals raised by delegates at the ongoing 2026 PKR National Congress at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC) in Ayer Keroh.
"This is important (to strengthen information and communications). If we listen, many have said that much of the Government’s efforts and achievements, particularly those at the macroeconomic level, may not yet have been translated into improvements that are felt at household level.
"So, this is one of the major messages for me and the Communications Ministry, as well as in my capacity as Information Chief and Communications Director of Pakatan Harapan," he said at the congress today.
Fahmi said several views and proposed changes relating to information and communications raised by delegates would be outlined during the winding-up session of the congress tomorrow.
He said he welcomed the proposals with an open mind and appreciated the willingness of branch leaders to play a greater role in communicating information to the grassroots.
"I have an open attitude and am not merely taking note of the proposals, but am grateful, particularly to branch chiefs who have expressed their intention to play a greater role as information channels.
"They have done so before, but perhaps they need a more formal relationship to ensure that issues at parliamentary level can be brought to our attention in Putrajaya and that efforts can be made to resolve them," he said.
Fahmi said the PKR central leadership council (MPP) was approaching all proposals submitted by delegates with humility and would begin implementing changes from the party’s own leadership.
He said strengthening communication at all levels would be important in ensuring concerns raised by members and communities could be conveyed effectively to the Government while allowing the public to better understand its policies and achievements. - August 15, 2026
