A 37-year-old delivery worker claims trial to two charges of physically assaulting a 12-year-old girl in Kuala Terengganu in June and September last year - September 14, 2026

A DELIVERY worker has been charged in the Sessions Court in Kuala Terengganu with two counts of allegedly committing physical sexual assault against a 12-year-old girl in June and September last year.

Abdul Qayyum Ahmad, 37, pleaded not guilty after the charges were read before Sessions Court Judge Mohd Zul Zakiqudin Zulkifli today.

According to the first charge, he allegedly committed the offence at night in June 2025 at Kampung Pengkalan Setar, Gelugor Kedai, in Kuala Terengganu.

He was accused of committing the same offence against the girl at night on Sept 17, 2025, in the same area under the second charge.

Abdul Qayyum was charged under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which provides for imprisonment of up to 20 years and whipping upon conviction.

The court granted him RM12,000 bail with one surety and fixed Oct 12 for mention, document submission and an update on the status of the withdrawal of the police report. - September 14, 2026
