AIR quality across Malaysia has continued to deteriorate, with the number of locations recording Unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) levels rising to 20 as of 7am today.
Data published by the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) shows Batu Pahat maintaining the highest API level in the nation after worsening to 186, followed by Kluang (169), Larkin (166), Segamat (165), Pasir Gudang (164), Tangkak (163), and Nilai (160).
Other areas recording unhealthy air quality include Seremban at 156, Kota Tinggi at 155, Pengerang at 154, and Melaka City at 153. Putrajaya, Rompin, and Balok Baru in Kuantan each registered a reading of 152.
Further locations in the unhealthy band include Cheras (137), Indera Mahkota in Kuantan (124), Kemaman (121), alongside Batu Muda, Bukit Rambai, and Paka, which each recorded 103.
According to APIMS metrics, 43 locations nationwide registered moderate air quality, while five areas maintained good levels.
Under the national air quality scale, readings between 0 and 50 denote Good quality, 51 to 100 represent Moderate levels, 101 to 200 are categorised as Unhealthy, 201 to 300 signify Very Unhealthy conditions, and values of 301 or above are classified as Hazardous. - October 6, 2026
