INTERPOL has issued a Red Notice against Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd group managing director and chief executive Datuk Mohd Abdul Karim Abdullah following efforts by the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) to pursue legal action against him, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said.

Speaking during Prime Minister's Question Time on Tuesday (Oct 20), Anwar said the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) had obtained an arrest warrant for Karim as investigations into transactions involving him continued.

“Most recently, the SC obtained an arrest warrant for Karim. Interpol has also issued a Red Notice to help locate and arrest him,” he said.

Anwar said the SC's investigations into other transactions involving Karim had resulted in charges being brought against him and another individual in early 2026 over transactions and alleged false statements involving Sarawak Consolidated Industries Bhd (SCIB).

In March 2026, the SC was reported to have obtained an arrest warrant for Karim, a former chairman and non-independent, non-executive director of SCIB.

The SC had previously charged Karim in 2021 over an offence involving false information in Serba Dinamik's financial statements. The case was subsequently resolved through a RM3 million compound after the Public Prosecutor accepted his representation.

Karim is wanted over an alleged offence under Section 369(b)(B) of the Capital Markets and Services Act 2007, relating to the submission of a false statement by SCIB to Bursa Malaysia. The Public Prosecutor had consented to criminal proceedings against him over the matter.

In a separate development, Anwar encouraged Malaysians to use TuJu, a locally developed road navigation application by the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM), as an alternative to Waze amid concerns over the security of users' personal information and movement data.

He said the issue was discussed at the third 2026 meeting of the National Cyber Security Committee, which he chaired on Tuesday to review emerging cyber threats and strengthen the country's digital sovereignty.

Anwar said the meeting also examined the implementation of the Cyber Security Act 2024, the security of MyDigital ID, preparations for quantum computing threats through post-quantum cryptography (PQC), emerging threats involving autonomous artificial intelligence and the protection of National Critical Information Infrastructure (NCII).

“We cannot compromise on the security of the people's data and identities,” he said in a Facebook post.

He said the government was strengthening the integrated identity ecosystem, with MyKad serving as a physical credential and MyDigital ID supporting digital transactions, backed by stronger cybersecurity measures and preparations for future threats through PQC.

Anwar said these measures were important to ensure the digitalisation of public services continued to benefit Malaysians without compromising security, public trust and national sovereignty. - October 21, 2026
