SEMPORNA – Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) today denied reports that 30 branch heads have quit the party and are joining Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) in an event yesterday.
Semporna Warisan information chief Hasbullah Rauddah said that the matter was based on feedback from several branch heads, who claimed that their presence in the Bersatu meeting was mere manipulation.
“They (branch heads) felt that the agenda of the meeting was not clear, apart from their presence at that time as villagers and not in their capacity as party branch heads.
“As for the individuals who claim to be branch heads, if it is true (that they quit the party), the move only involved themselves and did not include all branch members. Also, there are individuals (claiming to be branch heads), but in truth they are just regular members,” he said in a statement here, today.
Yesterday, it was reported that the fate of the people not being protected was among the reasons why 30 Warisan branch heads in Semporna had quit the party to join Bersatu.
Responding to this claim as well as that Warisan had failed to keep its promise on the temporary settlement issue of the residents in Kg Bangau-Bangau, Hasbullah said that in July 2020 the Warisan government had approved an allocation of RM8.2 million for the construction of more than 300 houses in the village.
In addition, he said that the move to evacuate the residents of Kg Simunul to the Bubul Ria People’s Housing Project during the Warisan administration was because they wanted to ensure that the residents were not exposed to risk of disaster, and they were also given a year’s rental exemption. – Bernama, February 17, 2021
