PUTRAJAYA – Social Welfare Department (JKM) staff, senior citizens, and people with disabilities will be vaccinated in the second phase of the national Covid-19 immunisation programme.
The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry today explained that the groups are not first-phase recipients of the vaccine as informed by its minister Datuk Seri Rina Mohd Harun on Tuesday.
The ministry in a statement said that there was a factual error regarding the vaccination phase involving JKM staff, senior citizens, and disabled people in the immunisation programme.
In a statement issued earlier, Rina was reported as saying that a total of 68,003 people from the target groups would be vaccinated in the first phase of the programme.
They comprise 48,564 senior citizens who are members of senior citizen activity centres and residents of institutions under the ministry’s supervision, as well as 19,439 registered people with disabilities, who are also community-based rehabilitation programme trainees. – Bernama, February 18, 2021
