GEORGE TOWN – Penang will distribute the state’s third aid package to assist those who are affected by the movement control order 2.0 lock down which has affected the state's economy.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow has given his assurance that nobody will be left behind and the state has identified five groups which will receive aid in the first pay-out of about RM10 million.
The state has allocated a total of RM20 million and wants to put money in the right and eligible hands – the deserving groups, said Chow.
In a statement, Chow said that the aid to the five groups are: 900 micro entrepreneurs who are registered through the Penang Halal International who will each receive a RM320 grant.
Also, a one-off pay-out of RM1,000 to 1,000 small medium enterprises who are registered with the Small and Medium Enterprises Association (Samenta) Penang to help them improve their networking reach in the business-to-business marketplace.
There is also a RM500 one-off payment to 194 sports and recreational operators.
Another group comprising 63 mobile spa operators, will get RM500 each.
Penang will also accord RM574,424 worth of food incentives to traditional farmers registered with the veterinary services department, of which 1,088 recipients have been selected.
Some 351 travel trade members such as tour bus operators and limousine drivers have been selected to receive RM500 each;
Around 1,367 tour guides would also receive RM500, while 23 water sports operators would receive RM500 each.
Nine recreational horse ride operators would also get RM500 each, while some 500 canteen and cafeteria operators at schools would also receive RM500 each.
Penang will also allocate RM2 million worth of medical equipment to the state Covid-19 task force, while RM5,000 each will be given to 104 childcare, senior citizen, and disabled care operators.
Sixty tourism landmark operators would get RM1,000 each, while 622 non-Muslim places of worship registered with the Registrar of Societies would receive RM1,000 each, while 600 Islamic surau caretakers would also get RM1,000 each.
A one-off pay out of RM500 each would be given to 935 religious school teachers, while another 5 assistant teachers would also receive RM500 each.
For those active in digital commerce, about 15,000 recipients would also receive aid worth RM1 million.
