KUCHING – A street fight at Jalan Green here on February 14 has led to the detection of one of two new clusters in Sarawak.
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said up to 130 police officers and personnel are now undergoing mandatory quarantine.
He said the index cases for the Jalan Green cluster are Case No. 7,093 and 7,094, involving detainees.
“As of noon (yesterday), 148 individuals have been screened with six testing positive and 112 still awaiting results,” he told a press conference here yesterday.
The other cluster is the workplace-related Kejatau cluster in Sri Aman, involving a government office at Wisma Persekutuan Fasa 2, Jalan Kejatau.
“As of noon (yesterday), 92 individuals have been screened with seven testing positive and 79 awaiting results.”
Yesterday, 199 new Covid-19 infections were detected in Sarawak, bringing the total number of positive cases in the state to 7,624.
Sarawak reported three more deaths from Covid-19, bringing the state’s total number of fatalities to the viral infection to 69. – Bernama, February 20, 2021
