JOHOR BARU – A total of 7,402 firemen across the country will be among the first recipients of the Covid-19 vaccine.

Deputy Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Abd Muttalib said among them are 999 firefighters in Sarawak, Selangor (945) and Sabah (740).

“Overall, there are about 15,000 firefighters in Malaysia and the vaccine will be administered to them in stages.

“We will leave matters related to the vaccination to the Health Ministry to decide,” he said after visiting the Larkin Fire and Rescue Department station here last night.

The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is expected to arrive in Malaysia tomorrow and the immunisation exercise is divided into three phases, with the first phase to run until April for frontliners, the second phase to August for those in high-risk groups and the third phase from May to February next year for adults aged 18 and above. – Bernama, February 20, 2021
