KUALA LUMPUR – Ten residential areas around Jalan Telok Ira in Temerloh, Pahang will be placed under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) following a spike in Covid-19 cases there.

Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said in a statement that the restriction will be in force for two weeks starting tomorrow until March 6, after risk assessment and advice from the Health Ministry.

To date, 72 Covid-19 infections have been reported among residents there.

The housing areas that will be affected are Taman Desa Bangau, Taman Seberang Damai, Taman Kenari, Taman Seberang Temerloh, Taman Kelisa, Desa Bangau and Taman Jaya 2, 3, 4 and 7.

“The EMCO is to allow the Health Ministry to conduct targeted Covid-19 testing on all residents in order to control the spread of the infection.”

Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said the EMCO at Bandar Raub Perdana in Raub, Pahang will be lifted today, five days earlier than scheduled.

This is after the Health Ministry deemed the situation there to be under control, with all close contacts and targeted groups identified.

In total, he said 287 swab tests have been conducted, of which only three cases were detected.

Meanwhile, he said 461 individuals were arrested yesterday for violating the government’s standard operating procedures, of which 430 have been issued compounds and 31 were remanded.

Among the offences were interstate and inter-district travel without permission (135), failure to observe social distancing (128), and failure to provide customer registration equipment at business premises (72). – The Vibes, February 20, 2021
