KUALA LUMPUR – The country today logged another 2,468 Covid-19 cases, making for a total of 288,229 since the pandemic began.
Of the overall tally, 30,475 are active cases.
The Health Ministry reported that among the fresh infections, only four were imported.
There are another 4,055 recoveries, it said, taking the total to 256,678.
It said 196 Covid-19 patients are in intensive care, with 92 on ventilators.
The ministry registered 14 new fatalities, all but one being Malaysian, pushing up the death toll to 1,076.
Ten deaths were in Selangor, Sarawak (2), and Johor and Sabah (1 each).
Selangor continues to log the highest number of daily infections at 934, followed by Johor (428), Perak (308), Kuala Lumpur (155), Penang (155), Sarawak (133), Negri Sembilan (100), Kelantan (96), Sabah (94), Malacca (22), Kedah (15), Pahang (11), Terengganu (9), Labuan (8) and Putrajaya (4).
Perlis is the sole state without new cases.
There are 509 active coronavirus clusters, including 13 new ones identified by the ministry today.
The Tapak Bina Digital Lapan, Jalan Wawasan 16, Jalan Cyber Sembilan and Jalan Tebrau Pandan clusters are all in Johor, involving worksites.
Three clusters were identified in Selangor, namely Jalan Damai, Jalan Serendah and Subang Tiga. These, too, are worksite clusters.
In Kuala Lumpur, two new worksite clusters were detected, namely Jalan Setiawangsa and Jalan Bayam.
Negri Sembilan sees the Jalan Ekar construction site cluster, and Kedah, the Jalan PKNK 3/3 cluster.
As for community-based clusters, the ministry identified one each in Sabah and Sarawak, namely Taman Mawar and Jalan Muhibbah, respectively. – The Vibes, February 23, 2021
