KUALA LUMPUR – Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine doses have arrived at the Presint 11 Putrajaya Health Clinic, ahead of the launch of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme at 3pm.
The first phase kicked off with Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin receiving the jab.
He arrived at 2.25pm, and was greeted by Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba; Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin; and, Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The prime minister signed a consent form agreeing to receive the vaccine.
He received his first dose at 2.43pm, after which he was ushered offstage to a waiting room.

The second person to be inoculated was 36-year-old driver Clement Marai Francis, followed by Dr Noor Hisham.
The first few frontliners to get the jab were 44-year-old assistant medical officer Khairul Asraf Mohd Yasin from the Putrajaya health office, and nurse Sheilla Mellissa Sikin, 31, and physician Dr Tan Yee Ling, 30, both from the Presint 9 clinic.
Bernama reported that nurse Rosmaliza Wan Daud led the transport team from the Presint 18 clinic to the one in Presint 11.
Media personnel were told that Putrajaya head nurse Lina Ibrahim would administer the vaccine to the prime minister, while nurse Mazirah Mokhtar from the Presint 9 clinic would do so for Dr Noor Hisham, who arrived at the Presint 11 health office at 2pm.
Low dead-volume syringes are used for vaccination to reduce wastage, and each vial of the vaccine contains six doses.
The vaccine has also reached storage centres in several states – Perak, Negri Sembilan, Melaka, Perlis and Terengganu, among others.
Coordinating minister Khairy said the immunisation programme is expected to be done before year end, ahead of its projected completion date next February.
He said this is based on the Health Ministry’s level of efficiency and professionalism, and whether the vaccine doses arrive on schedule. – The Vibes, February 24, 2021
