KUALA LUMPUR – With today’s 12 deaths, Malaysia’s Covid-19 death toll has reached 1,100, said the Health Ministry.
The number of fresh Covid-19 cases, meanwhile, dipped below the 2,000 mark today with 1,924 new infections, bringing the cumulative number to 293,698.
The country also recorded 3,752 recoveries, bringing the total discharged to 263,761.
Six of today’s new cases were imported. A total of 205 cases are under intensive care, while 91 require intubation.
Selangor is back at the top spot with the highest number of cases at 666, followed by Johor (257), Sarawak (219), Kuala Lumpur (218), Penang (162), and Perak (120).
Sabah has 93 cases, followed by Negri Sembilan (62), Kelantan (44), Kedah (29), Melaka (22), Pahang (19), Terengganu (6), Labuan (4), Putrajaya (2), and Perlis (1).
He said 105 cases today are from clusters in detention centres – Tembok Tapah (41 cases), Damai Pelangi (32), Tembok Pengkalan Chepa (15), Tembok Bendera (13), Seberang Prai prison (3) and Tembok Sg Udang (1).
Dr Noor Hisham said nine deaths today occurred in Selangor, two in Sarawak, and one in Penang – all involving Malaysians.
He added that the country has so far seen 1,111 clusters, including eight new clusters today.
Currently, there are 499 active clusters, with 93 having new cases.
The clusters with the highest number of cases are the Perindustrian Pelepas (55 cases), Tg Suria (47), and Tembok Tapah (41) clusters.
He said five of the new clusters today are workplace related, two are community clusters and one is a high-risk group cluster.
Selangor has three new clusters, including the Industri 19 cluster in Klang, Kuala Selangor and Petaling districts with 34 cases. The other two are the Jalan SS Lapan cluster in Klang with 36 cases and the Industri Jalan Empat cluster in Hulu Langat, Klang, and Sepang districts with 12 cases.
Sarawak saw the Jalan Ho Pin cluster in Samarahan, Kuching, and Serian with 14 cases, while Kuala Lumpur has the Jalan Putra Silang cluster in Kepong, Cheras, and Lembah Pantai with eight cases.
Penang logged the Lorong Murni cluster in north Seberang Prai with 21 cases, while Perak recorded the Kg Mak Teh cluster in Batang Padang with 16 cases.
