KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysian Armed Forces personnel involved in operations and foreign missions will be among the first to receive the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine, said Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He said these personnel include those currently and to be deployed in operation areas such as Ops Benteng and Ops Penawar, as well as the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon and the International Monitoring Team in Mindanao missions under the army, navy, and air force.
“For example, this vaccine will be given to personnel involved in Ops Benteng because they are safeguarding the country’s borders and waters, as well as handling illegal immigrants.
“This vaccine will also be given to the group in strategic governance and operations at the MAF headquarters, Defence Ministry, Joint Forces headquarters, as well as the army, navy and air force headquarters, especially those working in the operations and communications rooms,” he said.
He told a press conference this after receiving his first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine at the Tuanku Mizan Army Hospital in Wangsa Maju here today. – Bernama, February 26, 2021
