KUALA LUMPUR – The conditional movement control order (CMCO) throughout Sarawak has been extended by another two weeks to March 15.
Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the decision is made following a risk assessment by the Health Ministry.
“There is still a spike in infections in the state, with 1,623 cases recorded from February 12 to 25.”
In a related matter, Ismail Sabri said an enhanced MCO (EMCO) at a juvenile correctional facility and its staff quarters in Batu Gajah, Perak, scheduled to end on February 27, has been extended to March 13.
A total of 761 Covid-19 tests were done, with 433 returning positive.
“The ministry has verified that infections are still rising among the detainees, with 13 new cases recorded yesterday,” Ismail Sabri said.
Over in Sabah, 42 infections were detected at Kg Sinsingon and Kg Lotong today.
Due to the high infection rate at these two villages, the National Security Council has decided to put them under an EMCO from February 27 to March 12.
In Sentosa Timur Phase 2, Sarawak, 59 infections were detected, with the ministry confirming a continuous rise in Covid-19 cases.
“After a risk assessment, the government has agreed to impose EMCO at Sentosa Timur Phase 2 in Sarawak from February 27 to March 12.” Ismail Sabri said. – The Vibes, February 26, 2021
