KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia recorded 2,364 new Covid-19 cases today, lower than the number of registered recoveries at 3,320, according to the Health Ministry.

In total, so far, the country has logged 298,315 infections, with 27,028 still active.

The ministry in a statement today said 10 fatalities have been recorded, bringing the death toll to 1,121.

Kuala Lumpur registered six deaths, Selangor logged two, while Johor and Sarawak each logged one. Eight of the deceased were Malaysians, while two were foreigners.

Selangor recorded the highest number of infections at 862, Johor (314), Perak (305), Sarawak (255), Sabah (157), Penang (155), Kuala Lumpur (118), Negri Sembilan (74), Kelantan (68), Kedah (17), Malacca (17), Terengganu (11), Pahang (eight), Putrajaya (four), while Perlis and Labuan recorded no cases.

As for clusters, the ministry said 485 remain active, including the eight new ones identified today.

It identified five new ones in Johor, namely the Scientex Jaya, Jalan Mega Teknologi, Jalan Permas Sembilan, Jalan Gemilang Satu and Jalan Tampoi Besi clusters, all involving worksites.

It identified one new cluster each for Perak and Kelantan, also involving worksites. These clusters are named Kg Pulau Raja and Jalan Tasek Avenue, respectively.
