KUALA LUMPUR – A total of 432 individuals were arrested yesterday for flouting Covid-19 movement control order standard operating procedures.
Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob in his daily Covid-19 updates said 414 of the 432 people were issued compounds, while another 18 were remanded.
Among the offences recorded, the number of those who failed to prepare record-keeping equipment for customers was the highest at 108 cases, followed by not practising physical distancing (106), not wearing face masks (96), crossing district and/or state borders without permission (51), travelling without good reason (42), undertaking gambling activities (18), as well as operating commercial premises beyond the approved time or without approval (10).
The national police-led task force, comprising 5,214 compliance teams and 15,175 personnel, conducted 78,831 inspections throughout the country yesterday.
The Op Benteng border patrol arrested 27 illegal immigrants, and seized two boats and one land transport vehicle, while running the operation at border areas on land and sea.
The team also detected 38 vessels in Malaysian waters in six observation activities, with 10 illegal immigrants deported.
The operation saw 467 roadblocks conducted yesterday.
On Malaysian returnees, Ismail Sabri said 131,455 have returned home via international gateways from July 24 last year to yesterday, and have been placed under quarantine at 77 hotels and 12 public training institutes nationwide.
Of the total, 749 people have tested positive for Covid-19, while 7,084 are still undergoing isolation. – The Vibes, February 27, 2021
