KUALA LUMPUR – The enhanced movement control order (EMCO) has been extended for Tapah Prison and its staff quarters from March 2 to 15, with 505 test results to go.
So far, the Health Ministry has screened 875 individuals, from which 178 have been found positive.
An EMCO will also be imposed on Imperial Garments’ worker hostel in Flat Anjung Tawas Damai, Perak, from tomorrow to March 14.
The decision came after 213 out of 524 people tested positive for Covid-19. Based on the ministry’s risk assessment, the EMCO is needed to avoid a community cluster.
On a positive note, the EMCO for SMK Sultan Idris Shah 2 in Gerik, Perak, will end tomorrow. Of 582 individuals screened, there are only 16 infections.
The ministry said the locality no longer poses a health threat.
In a related matter, 509 individuals yesterday were caught violating the standard operating procedures, of which 472 were compounded and the rest detained.
The offences with the most violations are indulging in entertainment activities (114) and not wearing face masks (94).
Other offences included are not having temperature scanners (92), not practising physical distancing (91), illegal inter-district/interstate travel (58), operating over the allotted time (44), gambling (two), quarantine breach (one) and others (13). – The Vibes, February 28, 2021
