KUALA LUMPUR – Zoo Negara will reopen its doors to the public on Friday, and is offering a 20% discount on tickets that day.

Deputy president Rosly @ Rahmat Ahmat Lana said the National Security Council has granted permission for the zoo to reopen, with standard operating procedures, including limiting the number of visitors on the premises to 2,500 at any one time, in place.

“We are concerned that if the national zoo is not yet open, we will have problems,” he told a press conference here today.

He said Zoo Negara has received over RM11 million from government agencies, non-governmental organisations, volunteer bodies and individuals throughout the movement control order, adding that the funds went towards food and medicine for its animal residents, as well as operating costs.

Rosly said he expects the funds to last until next month. – Bernama, March 3, 2021
