KUALA LUMPUR – The Covid-19 vaccine order by Malaysia has surpassed 108% of the population to date, said Deputy Science, Technology and Innovation Minister, Datuk Ahmad Amzad Hashim.
In this regard, he said the people need not worry as the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) will provide sufficient doses for everyone in the country.
“My advice to Malaysians is to register on MySejahtera as the vaccines we are providing are sufficient for everyone.
“Please wait your turn… action can be taken against those attempting to cut queues,” he said after launching the MyCar 3.0 app here today.
Meanwhile, Amzad said Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) has given its assurance that there will be no power supply disruption that can affect the storage of the vaccines, especially the Pfizer-BioNTech one, which requires a storage temperature of -70°C.
He said a discussion was held with TNB last week to ensure it has an adequate back-up plan in the event of a power failure.
“We do not want what happened in Japan (to happen here), following which I was made to understand 1,000 doses of the vaccine were disposed of, when electricity supply was suddenly cut off.
“TNB has provided a list of officers in charge of each area if a power failure occurs,” he said.
In another development, the deputy minister said media organisations can send their applications to the government for entry into the list of frontliners under phase one of the immunisation programme.
He said the matter will be discussed with the PICK committee and any decision on the matter will be announced soon. – Bernama, March 3, 2021
