SEREMBAN – Negri Sembilan police believe they have crippled a drug syndicate with the seizure of drugs worth RM932,288 and arrest of six suspects in Port Dickson here and Melaka on February 28 and March 1.
State police chief Datuk Mohamad Mat Yusop said the syndicate is believed to be active since three months ago and operates from a room at a resort in Port Dickson.
He said the seizure and arrest were made after police stopped a Volkswagen car at Jalan Sua Betong in Air Kuning Linggi, Port Dickson, on February 28, during which a man was nabbed and 801g of drugs, believed to be syabu, was seized.
Following the arrest, he said, police were led to a resort in Port Dickson, where several types of drugs, including 23.2kg of syabu, were seized, as well as a toy air pistol and a bullet.
He added that a local man and Vietnamese woman were arrested during the raid, and police also seized a vehicle, jewellery and cash.
Mohamad said following this, raids were then conducted in Alor Gajah and Tg Minyak, Melaka, which resulted in the arrest of another three men and seizure of a car and more drugs.
All the suspects, aged between 35 and 54, tested positive for drugs and are remanded under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. All the male suspects have past records.
He said police are now tracking down the remaining members of the syndicate. – Bernama, March 4, 2021
