KUALA LUMPUR – Today sees Covid-19 cases climbing back up slightly over the 2,000-mark at 2,063 fresh infections.
This takes the cumulative number of cases recorded to 307,943.
The Health Ministry said the country also logged 2,922 recoveries, taking the total discharged to 283,629.
Today also saw five deaths to the deadly virus, to take the death toll to 1,153.
A total of 193 cases are in intensive care, with 99 requiring breathing support.
Of the new cases, only nine are imported.
Selangor recorded the highest number of cases at 630, followed by Sarawak (361), Penang (337), Johor (255), Kuala Lumpur (120) and Perak (101).
States that recorded less than 100 cases are Negri Sembilan (91), Sabah (78), Kelantan (44), Pahang (13), Kedah (12), Terengganu (10), Putrajaya (7), Melaka (3) and Perlis (1).
Labuan reported no new virus cases today.
Meanwhile, Malaysia today has 14 new clusters: 6 in Johor, 5 in Selangor, 2 in Penang and one in Negri Sembilan.
Johor’s clusters have a cumulative total of 102 cases: Jalan Distripark B6 (25), Batu 21 (15), Persiaran Kempas Baru (27), Jalan Kabel Gemilang (12), Jalan Maju Satu (10), and Jalan Limau Manis (13).
Selangor’s clusters have a total of 120 infections: Industri Subang (47), Lagenda Suria (31), Jalan Bukit Tiga (14), Jasmine Empat (17), and Jalan Damansara (11).
Penang’s Queens Waterfront construction site cluster has 145 cases after 709 individuals were screened, while the Jalan Kebun Nenas cluster has 94 cases from 326 screened.
The Nilam Sari construction site cluster in Negri Sembilan has 30 cases after 84 people were tested. – The Vibes, March 4, 2021
