KUALA LUMPUR – Individuals who are travelling from the peninsular to East Malaysia will have to undergo Covid-19 swab tests three days prior, and only those who tested negative and without symptoms will be allowed to enter the states.
Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said those who travel to Sarawak there will also have to undergo a 14-day quarantine upon their arrival. Conversely, individuals from Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan are not required to be tested for Covid-19 before they enter the peninsular.
However, swab tests will be required for those who cross borders within the three states, the minister said this in a press conference on the Covid-19 updates today.
On a separate issue, Ismail announced that an enhanced movement control order will be imposed at Henry Gurney School, Telok Mas in Melaka, as well as at Rumah Sewa Anong and Rumah Sewa Beverly Hills in Bintulu district, Sarawak.
The 14-day restriction at Henry Gurney School will start on Saturday (March 6). The minister said the school recorded 152 Covid-19 cases up to yesterday, involving five staff, eight family members and 139 students.
For the two Sarawak hotspots, the restrictions start tomorrow (March 5), as 84 cases were identified there to date, following 1,247 swab tests conducted by the Health Ministry. – The Vibes, March 4, 2021
