KUALA LUMPUR – The enhanced movement control order (EMCO) at residential areas around Jalan Telok Ira, Temerloh, in Pahang is scheduled to end tomorrow, said Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He said the Health Ministry has conducted 1,573 Covid-19 screenings, and 94 persons tested positive.
“The Health Ministry verifies that there is a decrease in cases and no screening samples awaiting results.
“After assessing the risks, the government has agreed to lift the EMCO in residential areas near Jalan Telok Ira, Temerloh, on March 6 as scheduled.”
Meanwhile, at residential quarters in Sri Jelutung, Chini, in Pahang, the National Security Council (NSC) has agreed to initiate an EMCO beginning tomorrow.
“Until March 3, 30 infections were recorded and 150 close contacts have been identified involving the residents.
“After a risk assessment, the government has agreed to implement an EMCO at the Sri Jelutung quarters in Chini, Pahang, from March 6 to 19.”
The statement also mentioned that the implementation of the EMCO is to allow the Health Ministry to conduct targeted screening of the residents.
With regard to flouters of standard operating procedures, 264 individuals were detained, with 234 of them compounded and 12 under remand.
On Ops Benteng, Ismail reports that authorities have nabbed nine illegal immigrants and seized two land vehicles.
