KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia is seeing a reduction in new Covid-19 cases as the Health Ministry reported 1,680 infections today compared to yesterday’s 2,154.
This brings the total number of infections to 311,177 while 21,159 cases remain active.
The ministry also reported seven more deaths, all involving locals, bringing the national death toll to 1,166.
Three deaths were recorded in Selangor, one from Sabah, and the remaining ones in Sarawak.
As for recoveries, the ministry reported 2,548 cases, bringing the recovery tally to 289,452.
Selangor again recorded the highest number of cases at 826, followed by Sarawak (221) and Johor (139).
The states with fewer than 100 cases are Negri Sembilan (89), Penang (84), Kuala Lumpur (81), Sabah (74), Perak (68), Kelantan (35), Terengganu (22), Pahang (17), Kedah (11), Malacca (10), Putrajaya (2), and Labuan (1).
Perlis recorded no new infections.
The ministry recorded four new clusters today while 478 remain active.
The Lagoon Selatan cluster was identified at a worksite in Petaling district, Selangor, after 12 individuals tested positive.
The Firma Dua cluster also involves a worksite but in Johor Baru. Of the 139 individuals screened, 28 cases were positive.
As for the Jalan Haji Malek cluster in Jasin, Melaka, it was identified after screening individuals with symptoms. Eleven infections were recorded.
The Bukit Tunggal cluster in Julau, Sarawak, is a community cluster identified after screening individuals with symptoms. It currently has 29 cases. – The Vibes, March 6, 2021
