KUALA LUMPUR – The National Security Council has agreed to extend the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) in Kg Sinsingon and Kg Lotong in Nabawan, Sabah, from tomorrow to March 26, said Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

“The Health Ministry has conducted 674 screenings, with 81 individuals testing positive for Covid-19. The ministry also confirmed there are 322 screening samples yet to be tested, and there are still infections reported among residents in the locality,” the senior minister told a press briefing today.

He said the EMCO at the Sentosa Time Fasa 2 settlement in Sibu, Sarawak, ends tomorrow, following a significant drop in coronavirus cases, with a mass screening of 1,311 individuals finding only 13 testing positive.

“The Health Ministry also confirmed a drop in cases, clusters are under control, and all patients and close contacts have been quarantined.”

He said police have arrested another 242 individuals for violating MCO regulations.

“Of that number, 240 were issued compounds, while two were remanded.”

Among the violations are failure to provide tools to record customers’ details (88 cases), not wearing a mask (66), not observing physical distancing (123), activities at entertainment centres (6), premises operating beyond the stipulated hours/without permission (2), and breaching the EMCO (1). – The Vibes, March 11, 2021
